Contemporary style carvings are a step closer towards the visual detail represented more by paint artistry than the  detailed carving .  This style of bird carving works with the basic shapes of the anatomy of the selected species and maintains minimal detail in the carving part.  Usually the only part of the carving that has any detail at all is the beak or bill area.  The detail in this style of bird is in the painting and is just as demanding artistically as painting on a flat board or canvas.  The carvings have a smooth surface with a matt finish.  Some of the carvings are table top design and others are wall mounted.
